While we are waiting for the IC Academic Committee to review the submissions, we thought you might like to hear about our Chairperson. We are so fortunate that the IC can draw on such a high calibre of expertise. Working memory issues are so often a feature of dyslexia and we have one of the experts in the field as our IC Chair who will also be speaking at the conference itself.
“Professor Susan Gathercole OBE is the Unit Director at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. She is a research psychologist, best known for her studies into working memory deficits in children. She has worked extensively with Professor Alan Baddeley, the co-creator, along with Professor Graham Hitch of arguably the most well-researched working memory model. In 2014 she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy.
Professor Gathercole’s findings have demonstrated the link between working memory deficits in children and poor academic outcomes. Furthermore, she has contributed to recent research showing that working memory deficits can be overcome with computerised, adaptive working memory training.”
We can’t wait to hear the latest information and research in this area from Professor Gathercole at the BDA International Conference (April 12th – 14th 2018 at Telford International Conference Centre).
